Christian marriage counseling
Christian marriage counseling / therapy is close to my heart. Three decades of marriage has been a major training ground as I've encountered critical trials and breaking points. In addition to life experience, I've been trained extensively through the Focus on the Family Hope Restored Marriage Program (internship). I've also received Gottman's Couple Therapy training.
Too often marriages settle for less, or quit prematurely. Marriage renewal is possible even after years of significant difficulty and disconnection. My focus is on "relational safety", interdependence, breaking out of damaging cycles, individual self-care, and forgiveness (new paths in the wilderness).
I'm trained and experienced working with clients facing with the following challenges:
It's been my privilege to counsel youth and young adults. In this day and age their challenges are acute and often relentless. My intent is to always listen, connect and offer counsel at the right time, in a way that can be heard and absorbed (without judgement or "preaching"). My success working with youth and young adults is based on being a safe, accepting place for them to land - with insights into their world and adopting a "father-heart" for them, marked by understanding, grace, but "truth" as well.
My work with families has mainly been in a church context through pastoral care and counseling. Whether you're facing challenges with young kids, teenagers, shared parenting, blended families or extended family issues, we can work together to uncover systemic issues. So often when working with families the presenting problem is not the core issue and yet it is almost impossible to see this as in "insider", To gain insight into the real issues, and to get on a more productive path, outside guidance and counsel is often necessary.
